Recent Woodland Park vacation rental reviews

We had the unique experience of staying at the cabin during the March ‘23 “Snow Bomb” event that blanketed the area with ~35-40” of snow over a 2-day period. The first thing that we noticed upon arrival was how clean the cabin was inside and out. Everything from floors to appliances to linens was spotless. As we were effectively stranded due to the snow event, the cabin provided a warm, welcome retreat. We never lost heat, power, or WiFi so remained very comfortable during our stay (the WiFi wasn’t working well the second day until we figured out that we needed to brush off snow that had piled on the satellite dish). We made our own meals and the kitchen provided all the cookware we needed, and the beds and furniture in the cabin were comfortable. We enjoyed the solitude and viewing the wildlife, including dozens of wild turkeys roosting in the trees around the cabin since there was so much snow on the ground! Our one STRONG recommendation should you choose to book this great cabin is to heed the suggestion (really should be a mandatory requirement) to have a 4WD vehicle to access the neighborhood, certainly if any precipitation (especially snow) is expected. We ended up driving an AWD V6 Durango as we had to take our 4WD to the shop last-minute, and regretted it almost immediately. The gravel roads are very steep in areas and also curvy, making for challenging driving for non-4WD vehicles even in regular conditions. If you come anytime during snow season we’d also recommend bringing some small shovels to dig your vehicle out (as we had to do 3 times), as well as chains and other things for additional traction. There is actually a sign at the top of the biggest hill warning that 4WD or chains are required during the winter months (we’d recommend both). Unfortunately the plows that typically clear the roads in the neighborhood were non-operational due to mechanical issues during our time there, and even some of the locals with 4WD were not able to get out of the neighborhood. We finally were extracted by a service that used tow straps and winches to get us up the hill and out to the paved highway. I will also note that during this adventure, our Vacasa agent Melissa was understanding and checked in frequently, providing updates as she was able and doing her best to insure we were safe and comfortable.
